Formal art training or education: I went to an
Ivy league school to study psychology and sociology. My
parents talked me out of majoring in fine arts. I
ended up taking 21 credits of fine arts after graduation
at the local community college. I have been crawling my
way back to my first love for the last four years.
Where do you get your inspiration from? I constantly
check www.designspongeonline.com, www.swissmiss.typepad.com, the
Etsy treasuries, and Julie Blackmon photography. Martha
Stewart is pretty compelling as well as ReadyMade Magazine
and Domino. I love, love, love browsing other designers
blogs. I am finding that creativity is bubbling over
on every continent around the world-- thanks to the web.
It inspires me to get going on my own work.
Describe any other hobbies or interesting things about yourself.
I love to rake leaves in the fall. I enjoy
listening to old records and saving furniture from being
put in the trash. I like wearing flip-flops year round.
I love to travel and hope to get to India someday,
as long as my husband is with me to explore.
List any awards etc. that you are proud of.
In high school one of my pieces was entered into
the Laguna Beach Pageant of the Masters. I had just
started taking art the year before. It was quite the surprise.
I was also voted most inspirational soccer player in college
after three major knee surgeries. I was pretty proud
of persevering.
