Tell us a little about what you make:
I am a painter and mixed media artist who makes
all kinds of wearable art from canvas paintings.
A
few years ago I needed a clutch to go with a black dress
that I was wearing to a wedding and
I wanted something colorful and a little edgy (kind of like
my artwork) I had the bright idea to
cut up one of my canvas paintings and sew it into a handbag.
It completely changed the way that
I look at art and the many ways to be creative! Since discovering
how wonderful painted canvas
can be I wrote a book titled canvas remix and have ventured
out into the teaching world- teaching
others to paint and use canvas in all kinds of crazy ways!

I mostly sell on Esty and also sell custom handbags

Formal art training or education: Yes, I have a
degree in painting and printmaking and have
studied art history, sculpture, drawing and graphic design
before finally settled on painting as a major!
Where do you get your inspiration from? I typically
find inspiration in music, art history and
exploring museums and galleries but my sources of inspiration
typically always change- Lately I
look for inspiration in fashion, street art, graffiti, I
love old weathered textures and am always
taking pictures of peeling paint, layered posters and stencils.
Describe any other hobbies or interesting things about yourself.
I love taking pictures and always have my camera
on hand everywhere I go- someday I would
love to try and pursue doing something with photography.
Since I live in Southern California I
love taking advantage of being outside, by the pool, at
the beach photographing my husband surfing.
I consider myself a foodie and love trying new food, I love
to cook have a dream of owning a café
and art gallery!

I am really proud of the gallery exhibits that
I have been involved in throughout the years, the
book that I wrote and the many classes that I teach- I have
had so many wonderful creative
opportunities that have come my way and really I am just
proud of the creative career I am growing!
