Tell us a little about what you make:
I love to work in porcelain because it is so responsive.
Sort of like a sports car;
while it might not be as easy or forgiving as a cadillac,
it sure moves in response to your every touch! I love making
functional work, balancing design within the format of the
familiarity of useful forms. I also love to work in sculptural
shapes, pushing the lines of personal source and beauty.
What is the price range of your work: $15 to $2500
Where can a shopper buy your merchandise? Etsy.com
is the easiest way to purchase work, or contact me through
my web site: www.watsonclay.com.
I have many shops around the country that carry my work,
so let me know where you live and I can give you the closest
outlet.
Formal art training or education: After I received
my BS in Industrial Technology, I took night classes at
Northern Kentucky University for 7 years until they felt
I should just get my own d@#& studio.
Where do you get your inspiration from? Nature,
process, and the weird machinations of my brain.
Describe any other hobbies or interesting things about yourself.
I'm a very spiritual person, though I rarely use
that in my work. I love to explore foreign cultures, especially
through art exchanges (France, Ukraine). I love to
play music with some friends;
harmonica, kahone (a wooden box drum originating in South
America that I made), gut-bucket bass.
List any awards etc. that you are proud of. Kentucky
Craft Emeritus, designated by the Kentucky Arts Council
this year.
