Name: Lauren
Alexander
Location: Overland Park, KS
Tell us a little about what you make: I am a watercolor
painter. I got my start selling paintings by making very
small works called ACEOs (Art Card Editions and Originals).
People enjoy collecting them as a fun way to own original
art at an affordable price. I make a lot of those little
art cards but also some larger works. I recently began doing
custom watercolor paintings for nurseries, bedrooms, and
other parts of the home.
What is the price range of your work: Original
paintings range from must $12.00 for ACEOs to about $100.00
for larger works.
Where can a shopper buy your merchandise?
Shoppers can find me at my online Etsy shop at
www.laurenalexander.etsy.com
Do you have any formal art training or education? Yes,
I have been painting with watercolors since middle school
and have studied it tirelessly throughout college and beyond!
I also teach art classes at the amazing Nelson Atkins Museum
of Art in Kansas City, Missouri.
Where do you get your inspiration from? My inspiration
comes from music mostly. I am a huge music fan and love
listening to all different kinds of artists and watching
them do what they do with sound and rhythm. I want to make
paintings that feel like a song.
Describe any other hobbies or interesting things about yourself.
Other than painting, I enjoy going to concerts, watching
movies, going to galleries, playing with my little dog,
and eating out.
List any awards etc. that you are proud of. Teaching
is its own sort of reward. I love working with young artists
and helping them find their artistic voice.
