Tell us a little about what you make:
Crocheted jewelry, hats, scarves, arm warmers.
I bought a knitting machine last year and have been experimenting
with that lately. I’d like to start making garments
when I get it figured out.
What is the price range of your work: $10-50
Where can a shopper buy your merchandise?
The main place is my Etsy shop, crochetgirl.etsy.com, also
boutiques around the country. In Chicago you can see me
at various events like Depart-ment Dec 5-7 and DIY Trunk
Show Nov. 22.
Formal art training or education: I have a degree
in Theatre from Depaul University and I managed to sneak
in a studio art minor.
Where do you get your inspiration from? Pretty
much everywhere. Sometimes I’ll be riding the bus
and see a color combination that I love and go home and
make a hat. I have a huge collection of vintage pattern
books so when I’m really stuck I pull them all out
and flip through to get ideas.
Describe any other hobbies or interesting things about yourself.
Well, I used to consider crocheting my hobby but
I don’t know if that counts anymore. So we’ll
go with collecting yarn :)
List any awards etc. that you are proud of.
I won a purple ribbon at the county fair on my
first afghan when I was 15.
